Green Finance Analyst at NATIONAL TRUST in Heelis, Kemble Drive, Swindon

About the role

We're looking for a Green Finance Analyst to help scale our investment in nature and climate. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in designing financial instruments that underpin innovative Green Finance solutions, helping unlock new sources of funding for nature and climate outcomes.

Working at the intersection of finance, data and nature markets, you'll support the development of investment propositions across areas such as Biodiversity Net Gain, Nutrient Neutrality, Carbon and Payments for Ecosystem Services. You'll combine strong financial analysis, modelling expertise and strategic thinking to help shape funding decisions, improve consistency across Green Finance activities and strengthen the Trust's position as a leader in this rapidly evolving market.

What it's like to work here

You'll join a collaborative and ambitious Treasury team that plays a critical role in ensuring the Trust has the financial resources needed to deliver its long-term goals.

This is a role that offers significant scope for learning, collaboration and innovation. You'll have the opportunity to work with specialists from across the organisation, develop expertise in emerging environmental markets and help establish new approaches to Green Finance that support both nature recovery and organisational sustainability.

This role is based at our Swindon head office, with flexibility to agree a hybrid working arrangement that works for you and the organisation.

Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon (change property as needed) and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.

What you'll be doing

You'll support the development, enhancement and operationalisation of Green Finance products by building and maintaining robust financial models, analytical tools and reporting frameworks. Working across a range of nature market opportunities, you'll develop methodologies and assessment processes that support investment decisions and funding proposals.

You'll also contribute to innovation within the Green Finance programme by identifying emerging market opportunities, supporting the development of new financing approaches and helping test new structures that can increase funding for nature and climate outcomes. Working collaboratively with stakeholders across multiple teams, you'll help connect nature evidence with financial analysis to create compelling investment cases and deliver practical solutions.

You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all of the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what’s possible in this role.

Who we're looking for

We're looking for a highly motivated and analytical individual who is passionate about finance and eager to contribute to the growth of environmental markets. You'll bring:

Strong financial modelling and analytical skills, including experience with data analysis, scenario analysis, and valuation techniques

An understanding of financial markets, investment principles, and Green Finance mechanisms, with knowledge of nature markets such as Biodiversity Net Gain, Nutrient Neutrality and Carbon

Experience developing financial models, reporting frameworks, dashboards or analytical tools that support decision-making

The ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and communicate complex information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders

Strong organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams

A curious, innovative, and solutions-focused mindset, with an interest in developing new approaches to funding nature and climate outcomes
