About the Team

The Data Hub at HM Treasury operates as our centre of proficiency for AI, sophisticated analytics, and data management. By partnering with groups inside and beyond government, we realise the Treasury’s digital analytics and artificial intelligence strategy. Our team is committed to strengthening the organisation’s capabilities and advancing transformation across the department. We deliver strategic coordination and mentorship to teams within the department, employing data and AI tools on new and established data sources. Through creative techniques, we facilitate detailed analysis and bolster HMT’s objectives, producing new insights and improving decision-making.

About the Job

As the Head of AI Enablement, you will:

Build and drive HM Treasury’s internal AI strategy through collaborative partner engagement and external horizon scanning

Own the identification and prioritisation of AI use cases. Work with user-centred designers to scope user needs. Translate strategic priorities into a maintained, evidenced AI roadmap and backlog.

Lead every phase of the AI delivery pipeline, coordinating delivery through the Data Hub and the wider Corporate Centre Group according to the roadmap

Lead and develop a small, multi-disciplinary team spanning product management, governance, and adoption functions

Establish tools, frameworks, and support models to drive AI literacy and responsible adoption across the organisation

Own the frameworks, standards, and policies governing safe, responsible, and ethical AI use, working with Security, Legal, and Data Protection teams

Lead critical communications, evaluation, and reporting on AI delivery, risks, and impact to senior partners including the Executive Management Board

This exciting role will build and guide the implementation of the strategy, roadmap, and governance related to artificial intelligence. It will also develop the capabilities and conditions required for successful adoption. You will report directly to the Chief Data Officer and work with delivery teams across the Corporate Centre Group.

You are an expert leader in prioritizing, coordinating, and leading all aspects of the delivery of AI solutions. You excel in providing senior leadership and encouraging a culture of change in a fast-paced environment. With a focus on professional perfection and efficiency, you deliver objectives while considering diverse customer needs. You understand the role of technological change in service delivery and its impact on culture, structure, morale, and activities of diverse end users. Your excellent collaborator and relationship leadership skills enable you to build effective relationships across organisational boundaries and with industry and regulators, negotiating at a senior level.
