Volunteer Retail Supervisor

Join us at Shaw Trust as a Volunteer Retail Supervisor and help us raise vital funds to support communities across the UK. As a not-for-profit charity, all our proceeds go towards helping people around the UK.

This is a great opportunity to build or develop your leadership skills in a friendly and welcoming environment. You’ll be supporting the shop manager to keep things running smoothly, helping fellow volunteers stay confident and productive, and making sure our customers and supporters receive a warm welcome.

There’s lots to do in our shops – from opening or closing the shop, handling the till and banking, to sorting donations and creating eye-catching displays. You’ll also play a key role in supporting and encouraging other volunteers, helping them learn new skills and feel part of the team.

As this is a position of responsibility and our shops welcome young and vulnerable people, we will need to carry out an Enhanced DBS check as part of our duty of care to everyone on site. This won’t cost you a penny and we will help you through this.

What we’re asking for

We are looking for someone who is responsible and happy to take initiative. If you’re calm under pressure, enjoy helping people, and are keen to learn, then we would love to hear from you. Basic retail, IT and numeracy skills would be helpful, and we’ll provide all the training and support you need.

The main thing we are looking for is that you are happy to be part of a team and have a helpful attitude. The ability to offer around 4 hours of help a week would be preferable, though we can be flexible. As this is a senior volunteering position, we are looking for people 18 and over.
